Rhino and Mr BRRRR
The two rhino calves are doing extremely well and we are hopeful that there will be two more births over the next few months. One of our senior rhino trackers has been working with Dr Peter Morkel and Dr Idrissa Chuma in the Serengeti National Park on rhino conservation. Pete was then able to travel to Mkomazi with TANAPA.
The wild dogs are all in good shape and we are planning the next set of reintroductions in January 2015. Daily 
management of the breeding and veterinary programme is one of our priorities and this is going very well under the care of Sangito Lema and Mshamba Mjema, the senior keepers.
Our elephant calf is now nearly three years old and is in good shape. He is out for the majority of the day, browsing in the bush, walking and resting, before he is closed into the much bigger elephant compound during the night time because of the presence of lions close by. We have constructed a keeper’s room at the back of this compound so his keeper continues to be next to him all through the night as well as the day.
