Three new rhinos arrive from Czech Republic
The three black rhinos (subspecies Diceros bicornis michaeli) were donated to the Director of Wildlife, under the care of the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary and the Trust, by the Dvur Kralove Zoo, Czech Republic. The original proposal was put together by Dr Hamish Currie of Back to Africa, Dr Dana Holeckova, the Director of the Dvur Kralove Zoo and the Trust. Suzuki Rhino Club, The Netherlands, have been incredibly supportive of the upcoming rhino translocation and, through their dedication and goodwill, have helped organise the whole translocation. We brought in a group of community leaders last week on the Rafiki wa Faru bus to see the project and the Rhino Sanctuary. They were fortunate enough to see seven rhino, including the new female calf. …read more

Another set of wild dog pups was born last night. We won't see them for at least a month whilst their mother suckles them in the den. …link
Tstese flies
We are working with a veterinary officer from TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks) to set out tsetse targets around the area of the rhino holding compounds and paddocks. This will help the incoming rhino from Europe adapt slowly to tsetse flies. …link
